Ethel J Richie, age 92, formerly of Third St.,Weatherly, died Monday, January 27, 2014, at Weatherwood Nursing Home in Weatherly.
She was the widow of Irvin E. Richie who passed away 4-29-1980.
Ethel was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Weatherly where she was a member of the church choir.
She was an accomplished singer having sung at weddings and as a member of the Weatherly Community Chorus.
As 1942 Miss Weatherly, she helped christen the Seagraves Fire Engine.
She was a Weatherly High School graduate and an accomplished baker having made a chocolate cake, an angel food sponge cake and a molasses cake every week.
Ethel was a homemaker.
Born in Philipsburg, NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Mae (Miller) Gittens.
She is survived by her,
Two Sons,
Irvin J. Richie and his fiancee Kate Kumitis of Weatherly and Paul E. Richie and his companion Debbie O'Hara of Forty-Fort, Pa.;
Seven Grandchildren
Eleven Great-Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her brothers, John, Leonard and Frank; sisters, Virginia Knepper and Miriam Hetzel.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 211 First St., Weatherly, Pa. where the family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.
Funeral Service will be on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11 o'clock AM at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Pastor Dawn Richie to officiate.
Interment at Union Cemetery of Weatherly.
