Ethel M. Kitchen, 93 years of age of Weatherly, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Heritage Hills in Weatherly.

Widow of Glenn A. Kitchen who passed away on May 14, 1991.

Born Friday, December 23, 1921 in Shenandoah, the daughter of the late Alonzo C., and Carrie (Rose) Eicke. Ethel and her late sister Carrie were raised by their four paternal aunts in Wilkes-Barre.

Ethel graduated from G.A.R. High School in Wilkes-Barre, class of 1939. She retired after 20 years of service at the Carbon County Court House as secretary to District Attorney George Kerestes, District Attorney John Deutsch, and Judge Richard Webb.

A member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Weatherly, Ethel was active in the Busy Bees of the church. She was a member of the Trinity Volunteer Group of Hazleton, and Weatherly American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a former member of the Weatherly Senior Friendship Club, and Carbon County Republican Ladies Club.

Ethel enjoyed 13 cruises and many trips abroad with her husband and daughter.

She is survived by;

Daughter,
Mrs. JoAnn Garber wife of Michael of Weatherly;

Nephew, Jeffrey Rifenbery of Luzerne.

Preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Carrie Rifenbery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services 211 First Street Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255.

A Funeral Service will be at 11 o'clock A.M. on Wednesday August 12, 2015 from the funeral home, Rev. Dawn Richie to officiate.

A Gathering of Friends shall take place Tuesday evening August 11, 2015 at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 P.M.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Weatherly, Pennsylvania.
