Esther P. Sterzen

Esther P. (Wescott) Sterzen, wife, mother and grandmother, age 85, of Coaldale, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Weatherwood Nursing & Rehabilitaion Ctr. in Weatherly.

Survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Stephen R. Sterzen.

Esther was a 1945 Coaldale High School graduate, matricualting to the Sacred Heart School of nursing in Allentown. Upon completing her R.N. certification, Esther returned to work at Coaldale State Hospital.

Esther was a member of SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. of Tamaqua, and the Sacred Heart School of Nursing Alumni Assoc.

Esther enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late William and Dora (Rubanchenka) Wescott.

She is also survived by her;

Daughter,
Linda (Sterzen) Scotti wife of Donald of Essex Junction, Vt.;

Son,
Richard S. Sterzen and his wife Janet of Martinez, Ga.;

Three grandchildren,
Two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Isabelle (Cheplick) Cipko, Mrs. Doris (Wescott) Lutchkus, Miss Helen Cheplick; brother, Peter Cheplick.

Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., Tamaqua, Pa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wed. November 27, 2013 at 11 o'clock A.M. from SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Rev. William Linkchorst to officiate.

Friends shall be received from 10 o'clock A.M. until time of services in church.

Interment will be at Sky View Memorial Park in Tamaqua.
