Emory G. Oakes, 70 years of age, a lifelong resident of the Dutch Hill Section of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Broad Mountain Nursing Home in Frackville.
Born Tuesday, January 1, 1952 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the son of the late Charles W., and Lucy (Sweeney) Oakes. Emory was also predeceased by; sisters, Gertrude, Bernadette, and Eleanore Oakes; brothers, Vincent Sweeney, Glyn, Donald, Charles, Jeffrey J. Sr., and Wayne Oakes.
Surviving are; sisters, Kathryn Boris wife of Lenny, Marie Quick his caregiver wife of David; brothers, Kenneth J. Oakes and his wife Kay, Arthur J. Oakes and Michael A. Oakes. Many nieces and nephews also survive Emory.
A kinder man one will be challenged to find. Many considered Emory the "Mayor of Dutch Hill". For many years he worked at the corner butcher shop Spokas's Meat Market on Union Street. Emory was always available to assist older resident mowing grass or running errands. He was a member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua. Emory was a Phillies baseball, and Penn State Football fan.

A Funeral service will be at 7: o'clock PM on Wednesday June 22, 2022 from the funeral home. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until time of services.
Private Interment will be in St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery Tamaqua, Pennsylvania
