Elizabeth Mary (Menconi) DaPrato, age 98, of East Broad Street, Tamaqua, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at St. Lukes Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale.
Elizabeth and her later husband, John Paul DaPrato, who died on June 16, 1989, owned the East End Market from 1947 to 1975. She then assisted her son in the operation of the market.
Valedictorian of her Summit Hill High School graduating class, Elizabeth was a memebr of the Tamaqua B.P.W.. Elizabeth was Catholic by faith.
Born in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of Joseph and Iola (DaPrato) Menconi.
She is survived by her
One Son,
Joseph J. DaPrato and his wife Christine of Tamaqua;
Preceded in death by her husband, John Paul DaPrato; brother, Charles Menconi; sisters, Mrs. Lena Donati, and Mrs. Josephine DaPrato.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.,
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday March 9, 2012 at SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pa. 18252, Rev. William Linkchorst to officiate.
Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery Bloomingdale.
