Elizabeth Ann Murphy, mother, grammy, sister, 85 years of age, of Walker Township, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday June 8, 2024, at St. Luke Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.
Born December 16, 1938, the daughter of the late John S. and Anna (Harvilla) Wargo. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Lawrence V. "Bum" Murphy Sr.
Surviving are her; sons, Larry V. Murphy Jr. and his companion Ann Hadesty of Tamaqua, John F. Murphy and his wife Erica of Tamaqua; Daughter, Sharon A. Sword of Tamaqua; Brother, Bernard Wargo of Summit Hill; Grandchildren Jonathan Murphy and his wife Karen; Kelly Murphy and her companion Chris Palmer; Jaryd Linkhorst and his wife Samantha; Ryan Murphy; Kyle Murphy; Alice Felty and her husband Dusty; Laura Sword; Great Grandchildren Ciera, Christopher and Deklan; step grandchild, Amanda Woodring and her husband Kevin, and their children, Aliva, and Kaile. Nieces and nephews also survive Elizabeth.
A Graduate of Summit Hill High School, Elizabeth worked for several area Garment Factories before retiring from working in the cafeteria at the former J.E. Morgan Knitting. A member of St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, Tamaqua, Elizabeth also belonged to the Lewistown Valley Gardening Club. Elizabeth enjoyed painting, doing cross word puzzles, word search, and was a W.W.E. wrestling fan.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday June 13, 2024 at 11 o'clock A.M. from the funeral home. Friends may call on the morning of services from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.
