Eleanor M. (Baddick) Paslawsky, age 85, Tamaqua died Thursday January 5 at Abington Memorial Hospital, Montgomery County, surrounded by her daughters Joann & Jeannie and adopted family members: Jamal & Nazha Ouazzani, Rachid and Samia Azzi and her dear grandchildren Youcef and Yasmine Azzi.
A St. Jerome High School graduate, Eleanor was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Tamaqua.
Eleanor had worked as a Bell Telephone Operator in Tamaqua, and for many years, as the Office Manager for Dr. Thomas J. Dirnberger until retiring. She was also well known for her homemade candy.
Eleanor loved playing board games, dancing, share a laugh and joke and most especially being a mother, a friend, and a staunch supporter of Catholic education.
She was an avid sports fan: Marian fan locally as well as Notre Dame football and Duke basketball. She also enjoyed baking, crocheting and knitting.
Born in Tamaqua, she is the daughter of the late Andrew and Nora (Urban) Baddick.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Joann of Lansdale and Jeannie of Willow Grove, sisters Helen Campbell of Tamaqua and Regina "Jean" Witcofsky (wife of Mickey) of Crozet, VA, sisters-in-law Mary Paslawsky Dirnberger (Coaldale) and Olga Paslawsky Yusko (Frederick, MD), and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her brothers Frank, Joseph and Edward Baddick and sisters Josephine Krynock, Genevieve Scarloss, Mary Zaleha and Catherine Kokalec.
Family and friends may call Sunday January 8 from 1 to 4:00 P.M. and 6 to 8:00 P.M. at Griffiths Funeral Home, 655 E. Broad St Tamaqua, and again on Monday January 9 from 8:45 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, at 10:00 A.M with interment at the convenience of the family. .
