Edward "Dick" Martin (Marcinko), of East Ridge Street Lansford, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Maple Shade Living Center in Nesquehoning at 96 years of age.

Born Friday, March 17, 1922 in Lansford, Pennsylvania son of the late Paul, and Mary (Oracko) Martin, Dick was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Theresa (Paslowsky) Martin; son, Ronald Mantz; brothers, George Marcinko, Paul Marcinko Jr, Joseph Martin; sisters, Mary Katcher, Annie Barron, Margaret Marcinko, Matilda Palasky, Helen Benek;

Dick is survived by daughter-in-law Rita Mantz of Nesquehoning; grandchildren, who affectionately called him Grampy, Lisa, Dana and Gregory; great grandchildren, Taylor, Yusuf, Aliya, Sophie, Grayson ; great great granddaughter, Madalynn; sister, Theresa Brown of Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews.

A 1940 graduate of Lansford High School, Dick served honorably in the United States Army during WWII as a Surgical Technician in the Asian-Pacific Theater including the Battle of Okinawa and was awarded a bronze star. Dick retired from the Panther Valley School system and was a devoted member of St. Joseph's R.C.C. of the Panther Valley, and the Summit Hill American Legion.  Dick was a former Lansford Police Officer for 17 years.  He also worked for the Lehigh & New England Railroad as a brakeman and used his railroad privileges to attend many Yankee games in NYC with his son. Dick was an animal lover and cherished his many Boston terrier dogs over the years. He was a connoisseur of good drink and good conversation and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. of 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252. (570) 668-2550.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday June 4, 2018 at noon from St. Joseph's R.C.C. of the Panther Valley 462 West Ludlow Street Summit Hill, Pennsylvania 18250, Rev. Allen J. Hoffa and Msgr. Thomas Derzack to co-celebrate. Friends may call in church on Monday morning from 10:30 A.M. until time of worship.

Interment with Military Honors will be bestowed at Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
