Edward C. "Ike" Leininger
September 16, 1932 — April 29, 2017
Edward C. "Ike" Leininger, 84, of Maple Street, Weatherly, crossed over to be with our Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at home while in the loving care of his family.
Survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Rosann (Gerhard) Leininger; his children whom he was so proud of, daughters, Mrs. Denise M. Anderson wife of Ronald of Beaver Meadows, Mrs. Sherri Eckert wife of Brian of Lehighton; sons, Chris Leininger and his wife Dianna of Weatherly, Jody S. Leininger and his wife Jessica of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Rebecca Eckert, Selina Eckert, Joshua Eckert, Corban Leininger, and Jason Coiner. Several nieces and nephews also survive Ike, as well as his grand dog Stormy.
A 1952 Weatherly High School graduate, Ike had worked for Star Parts of Hazleton, Intreped Security, and since 1988 for Pocono International Raceway, the job where going to work was more than a job, it was his passion.
A member of Faith Assembly of God Church of Hazleton, Ike, served as an usher volunteer for Vacation Bible School, to working in the kitchen. A Girl Scout advisor, Ike was active with 4-H as well. He volunteered for the American Cancer Society Telethons for a number of years.
Born Friday, September 16, 1932 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania the son of the late Isaac, and Minnie (Rehrig) Leininger. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Laura Eckenroad; sister, Mrs. Irma Ritter.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services of 211 First Street Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday May 4, 2017 at 11 o'clock AM from Faith Assembly of God Church, located at 34 Fox Manor Rd Hazleton, Pennsylvania 18201. Friends may call the morning of services in church beginning at 10:00 A.M.
Private interment.
