Edward James “Ed” Finney, beloved husband, proud father, doting pap, brother, 75 years of age, of Lehighton, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at St. Luke's Carbon Campus in Lehighton, Pennsylvania after a courageous battle against cancer, with his family by his side.
Born Sunday, July 3, 1949 in Palmerton, Pennsylvania the son of the late Edward, and Grace (Ouly) Finney.
Surviving are; his wife of 54 years, Linda (Mertz) Finney; daughter, Shelia Finney and her partner Tom Miller of Nesquehoning; son, Christopher Finney and his fiancée Christa Karlson of Lehighton; brother, Richard Finney and his wife Cindy of Lehighton; grandson, Jeremy Rehrig and his fiancée Kristina DiGiampaolo. Nieces and nephews also survive Ed.
A 1968 graduate of Lehighton High School Ed served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, drafted in 1968 and discharged in 1974, Ed sailed on the USS Alacrity MSO520. Ed retired from Stanley Black & Decker as a grinder after 30 years. A member of Dinkey Memorial Church of Lehighton, Ed was a lifetime member of the Lehighton Fire Company, and Beaver Rod & Gun Club. Ed also belonged to the East Penn Sporting Club, and the Lehighton American Legion Post #314.
A man of many words- A natural born leader In life; with an undying love for his community, Edward was involved in his hometown of Lehighton in so many ways; as many of you know, "Ed" worked with the Lehighton Police Department, he was involved with the Lehighton Fire Department, A life member of the Lehighton American Legion, a member of the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club. Edward had a love for motorcycles from a very young age, you would say he was a motorcycle enthusiast, giving back to his community and supporting the Lehighton Police and Fire Department. Ed went on and started The Lehighton Bike Night, drawing in crowds from near and far of those who had similar interest in motorcycles; never shy of words, Edward would strike up a conversation with whoever he meets; you could always see Edward as he would greet guests while working at Penn's Peak, seeing new faces and greeting old friends with a simple "how are you" made his day and theirs; He loved to take his yearly trips to Mexico or enjoy a Sunday afternoon ride in his red convertible Solstice; With his heart of gold, Edward is known to us as a loyal friend,

Funeral Services will be held from Dinkey Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church 1742 Dinkey Road Lehighton, Pennsylvania 18232, on Monday September 16, 2024 at 11 o'clock A.M. Rev. Tony Pagotto to officiate.
Friends may call in church on the morning of services from 9:30 A.M. until the time of worship.
