Douglas A. Ream

Douglas A. Ream, 51 years of age died Sunday April 3, 2011 at home on Hughes Street in New Ringgold, in the care of his wife and family, having lost his fight with cancer. Though his family was small he treated friends like family, and will be missed by all.

Born in Somerset, Pa., and raised in Seipstwon, he was the son of the late Donald, and Hilda (Holiday) Ream. Doug was a 1977 graduate of Northwestern High School. From 1985-1991, he was co-proprietor of the Golden Key Hotel in New Smithsville. He has worked at Eastern Industries in Wescosville since 2002.

Fostering his love of the outdoors, he worked as a hunting guide for Broken Arrow Outfitters of Kansas, and Nebraska, returning yearly to assist his brother. Doug was and assistant scoutmaster of cub pack 756 Mantzville for six years, where he taught scouts survival tactics with the goal of respecting nature.

From 1988 to 1991 he was part of Ken Schrader Racing serving as gasman on the Grand National Racing Circuit. Most recently Doug, assisted his son Brandon while he raced and built ATV’s.

Survived by his wife of eighteen years, Judy M. (Bauer) Ream;

Sons, Brandon R. Ream, and Joseph Gleason both of New Ringgold;

Brother, Dennis R. Ream of Allentown;

Mother-in-law, Caroline Johnson of Orwigsburg

Memorial Service Thursday evening April 7, 2011 at 7 o’clock P.M. from the Robert S. Nester F.H., Inc. 2066 West Penn Pike, Route #309, New Ringgold, Pa. 17960.
