Dorothy Hassan Schonberger

Mrs. Dorothy H. (Hassan) Schonberger, age 92, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Tamaqua, Pa., died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Golden Springs Adult Care Center in Suprise, Ariz.
A 1934 Tamaqua High School graduate, Dorothy retired from the Lehigh County Department of Welfare as a Case Worker in 1982.
Dorothy was a member of the Jewish Community Ctr. of Allentown, Pa.
Born in Tamaqua, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Fannie (Lifshutz) Hassan.
She is survived by her

Sarilyn (Schonberger) Kennedy
Two Sons,
Gerald R. Schonberger and
Arne Schonberger
Four grandchildren
Six great-grandchildren;
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Schonberger (formerly the proprietor of the Tamaqua Paint-Up Store), sons, Beryl and David Schonberger, her brother, Abe Hassan, and her sister, Naomi Hassan.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
Graveside service will be at Son's of Jacob Cemetery at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2009. Rabbi Melody Davis officiating.
