Dorothy Marilyn Hedeen passed away peacefully. "Your wings were ready but our hearts wanted more time." She was the daughter of Charles and Rose Guthrie of Shiloh, Ohio. Dorothy was born at home in the year 1928. She attended Shiloh High School and graduated in 1946.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Eric; sister, Helen and brother Robert. She is survived by her son, James (wife Susan); daughter, Kristin; sister, Phaenon; five grandchildren, Joseph, Melissa, Megan, Matthew, and Lucas; five great grandchildren, Maci, Molli, Hannah, and twins Johnny and Lillian; and many nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews.
Family was one of Dorothy's passions. She was a world traveler and settled in Plymouth when her husband retired to be near her father and family. Her home was always beautiful, busy and the door was always open. She loved gardening and canning and probably shucked a million elderberries in her life time. In 1949 she joined the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member for 72 years of service to the Veterans the Community and our Country. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Plymouth where she volunteered her time.
No viewing will be held. Services provided by Secor Funeral Home will be graveside at Mount Hope Cemetery in Shiloh, Ohio on Friday the 6th of August at 11am. Family and friends are invited. Service will be officiated by the American Legion Auxiliary. There will be no reception. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice in her name.
