Doris M. Smith, age 92, formerly of Hazleton, a resident of St Luke's Pavilion, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at St. Luke's Pavillion in Hazleton.
She was the widow of Oscar I. Smith who passed on 7-26-1980.
She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Weatherly.
Doris had worked at Weatherwood Carbon County Home for twenty years as an L.P.N.
Doris was a 1938 graduate of Black Creek High School.
Born in Weatherly. she was the son of the late George VanHorn and the late Celeste (Uptegrove) VanHorn.
She is survived by her
One Daughter,
Kathleen Smith of Hazleton;
Two Sons,
David Smith and his wife Marion of Weatherly and Lawrence Smith and his wife Betty Lou of Weatherly;
Three grandchildren
Three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her sister, Jean (VanHorn) Siegendall; brothers, George VanHorn, Raymond MaGill and William MaGill; step-father, Raymond MaGill.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home and Cremation Services 211 First St., Weatherly, Pa. where the family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.
Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11 o'clock AM at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Pastor Dawn Richie to officiate.
Interment at Union Cemetery of Weatherly.
