Donald R. Steigerwalt, father, pap, pap-pap, brother, uncle, 87 years of age of Lehighton, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, as a guest of Scenic View in Palmerton, Pennsylvania.
Born Friday, December 20, 1935 in Andreas, Pennsylvania son of the late Peter, and Grace (Andreas) Steigerwalt. Don was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years Jean L. (Wehr) Steigerwalt on June 26, 2012; infant sister, Diane Steigerwalt.
Surviving are; daughters, Kimberly J. Szacska wife of John, Lori A. German wife of Gregory; sons, Rodney L. Steigerwalt, Donald R. Steigerwalt, II and his companion Janet Ross all of Lehighton; brother, Gerald Steigerwalt and his wife Rhea; sisters, Althea Higgins, Marilyn Reichard, Joyce Kupres wife of Thomas, Sr.; grandchildren, Jamie and her husband Sjaun, Aaron and his fiancée Megan Rae, Chelsea, and Corey; great grandchildren, Jack and Kane; companion, Hazel Goodhile. Many nieces and nephews also survive Don. Don's family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver for the past 2 years, Tyrine Sheasley and her husband Joe.
A 1953 graduate of Lehighton High School, Don served honorably in the United States Army. Don retired after a 30 year career at Bethlehem Steel having worked in many capacities. A member of Dinkey Memorial Church in Ashfield, many referred to Don as the Mayor of West Bowmans having resided on Lizard Creek Road for over 50 years. An avid outdoorsman, Don liked to hunt, fish, and tend to his garden. He was a member of the Palmerton Rod & Gun Club, Andreas Sporting Club, and Bowmanstown Fire Company. When his boys were young, Don assisted with their Cub Scout & Boy Scout Troop, and coached Little League Baseball in Ashfield.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday April 18, 2023 at 11 o'clock A.M. from Dinkey Memorial Church 1742 Dinkey Road Ashfield, Pennsylvania 18212. Friends may call in church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Rev. Anthony P. Pagotto to officiate.
Interment with Military Honors provided by Lehighton U.V.O. will be in Dinkey Memorial Cemetery Ashfield, Pennsylvania.
