David E. Schnaufer, age 60, of Berwick Street Beaver Meadows, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, having fought a valent fight against cancer.
A 1969 Hazleton High School graduate, David was a Sgt. in the U.S.M.C. during the Vietnam War. He was a 1976 graduate of P.S.U.
David and his wife Ann owned Our Place Bar of Beaver Meadows. Upon the sale of the bar, he worked for Temple-Inland of Hazleton, and most recently as maintenance supervisor for the Beaver Meadows Borough.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #0387 both of Beaver Meadows, and also the National V.F.W. Post# 8225.
Family first was his creed; however, he found time for tending to his garden, fostering his love for horticulture. He also enjoyed reading to quench is knowledge of the Civil war. David, was a John Wayne fan.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Gordon and Estella Mae (Harris) Schnaufer.
A caring husband and a proud father, who his children saw as their hero.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ann (Pollock) Schnaufer;
Three Daughters,
Minda, and Megan Schnaufer of Beaver Meadows,
Molli Schnaufer of Williamsburg, Va.;
One Son,
Micah Schnaufer of Beaver Meadows;
One Brother,
Lynn Schnaufer and his wife Barbara of Shamokin, Pa.;
Nieces, and nephews;
Preceded in death by his brother, Keith Schnaufer.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries F.D., where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, March 11, 2012.
Funeral service will be at Philip J. Jeffreis Funeral Home at 7:00 PM Sunday, March 11, 2012, Rev. Donald C. Strickler to officiate.
Private interment.
