Daniel J. McDonald, 69 years of age of Oak Court, Lake Hauto, Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Salisbury Twp., having courageously battled cancer.
Survived by his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Cathy M. (Slog) McDonald; sisters, Mrs. Marianne Frazier of Tarpon Springs, FL, Mrs. Colleen B. Gieniec of Ridgewood, NJ, and Mrs. Melainie B. Kling wife of Steven of Tarpon Springs, FL.; many nieces, nephews; great nieces, and nephews also survive Dan.
Danny was a gentle soul who loved to enrich other's lives with fun and humor. He went by so many nicknames because he impacted so many people in different ways. He was Dan the Dart, Captain Dan, Fun Uncle Dan, and Irish Dan. If there was fun to be had in Lake Hauto, it was around his Irish Bar that forged friendships, honored Notre Dame and was always open to whoever needed him. Danny was blessed with a personality that people were drawn to; he was truly something different to everyone who knew him, but one thread tied it together... we are all better for having known him.
Dan was a 1965 Marian Catholic High School graduate, and a graduate of the Bethlehem Business School. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Catholic by faith, Dan was a member of Father Henry Baker Knights of Columbus #271 of Coaldale, the Ancient Order of Hibernian's, and the Carbon County Notre Dame Club.
Dan had worked as a foreman for the former Bethlehem Mines of Coaldale, and operated his family insurance office, The Lewis Insurance Agency of Lansford until retiring in 2010.
Born Wednesday, January 29, 1947 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late George F. McDonald, and Mary (Domin) McDonald. Dan was also predeceased by his brother, George D. McDonald.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 o'clock AM on Friday July 22, 2016 from St. Richard's R.C.C., located at 709 Barnesville Drive Barnesville, Pennsylvania 18214.
Friends shall be received in church on Friday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of services.
Interment with Military honors will be held at Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown, Pennsylvania.
