Daniel D. Hartung, Pottsville, PA passed away unexpectedly from his earthly life on Monday, August 20, 2023, at the age of 59 years. He was born in Coaldale, PA.
He is survived by his beloved son Daniel and his wife, Merisa and grandson, Xavier James, Tannersville, PA. In addition, he is survived by siblings, Renee, wife of Ronald Frederick, Blue Ball, PA; April, wife of Kerry Hartranft, New Ringgold, PA; Linda, wife of Michael Kane, Tamaqua, PA; Charles and his wife Cindy, Tamaqua, PA; Ernest, Tamaqua, PA; Lizbeth Domday, Tamaqua, PA; Keith and his wife Vidhya, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and his little sister, Paula, wife of Thomas Weinert, Tamaqua, PA. He also leaves behind his uncle Gordon Kistler, Mohrsville, PA and many nieces and nephews.
Danny has joined his parents, Paul and Mearl (Kistler) Hartung and three brothers, Robert P., Rick L. And Raymond D in heaven.
Danny’s childhood was one marked by ambition, craziness, dirt, and exploration. His mother referred to him as a handful, but she loved him just the same. He had a way with animals and loved them unconditionally just as they loved him. Danny spent most of his time over the last several years volunteering for a handful of organizations, but his biggest contribution went to Bridge 127, Pottsville, PA. It was there he felt he found his purpose in life, helping his sister, Paula and many unfortunate families in Schuylkill County through the work he did there. Danny was a jack of all trades, master of none, and could take other people’s waste and turn it into something useful.
Besides his volunteer work at Bridge 127, Danny’s other passion and talent was his dance with a pool stick. He fell in love with pool at a young age and loved the challenge each rack of the balls provided. Pool is a game that requires skill, patience, and precision, all of which Danny demonstrated with ease. He loved spending time with friends or family around the pool table.
Now that Danny passed into the arms of the Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of his physical life on earth, it is the beginning of an eternal beautiful journey for him - free of the demons that he faced on earth.
From his favorite poem:
When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you king for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself
See what that man has to say.
Favorite quote by Mark Twain “the two most important reasons in life are the day you are born and the day you find out why !”
Psalm 138 7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: Thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies and, thy right hand shall save me.
