Lt. Col., retired Andrew V. Marusak, Jr., U.S.M.C., age 85, of Gettysburg, Pa., died Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., while wintering in Destin Florida.
Colonel Marusak, was a Weatherly High School graduate, and member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. church of Gettysburg, Pa.
Enlisting in the Marine Corps on January 29, 1943, he served for 28 years rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel, serving during three wars, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Honors and medals include: The Bronze Star with combat "V", a gold Star in lieu of a 2nd Bronze Star, WWII victory Medal, American Defense Medal, Distinguished Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 4 stars, and Korean Presidential Citation.
After retiring from the Military, he went to work for the University of Oklahoma for 20 years. He established their Washington D.C. office where he functioned as a liason.
Lt. Col. Marusak recieved his BA degree from Colgate University, and his degree in Education from Stanford University in Stanford California.
An avid photographer, and gardener, he also loved computers. He was an ardent Washington Redskins fan.
Born in Beaver Meadows, the son of the late Andrew "Chunky" Marusak, Sr and the late Mary (Bretsky) Marusak.
He is also survived by his wife of seventeen years, Mrs. Barbara (Donelin) Marusak;

Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, Philip J. Jeffries F.D. Supervisor, 211 First St, Weatherly, Pa.,
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, January 16, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church Weatherly, Pa. 18255.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday January 16, 2009 at 11 AM in Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.Church Weatherly, Rev. Floyd Caesar officiating.
Interment will be in the parish Cemetery.
