Clayton John "Gip" Sherry 80 yrs., of 201 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA, died Tuesday March 7, 2006 at his home.
Born in Tamaqua to the late Clayton J. and Anna B. (Fero) Sherry. He was preceded in death, by his wife Betty Lorraine (Kellett) Sherry who died April 25, 2000.
Clayton attended Tamaqua High School, where he played football for the Tamaqua Indians. He served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Susan B. Anthony and the USS Salamonie. He received the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, European Theatre Ribbon (2 Stars), Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Stars.
Affiliated with St. John U.C.C. Tamaqua, he was a Life Member of South Ward Fire Co., and the Keystone Club of Tamaqua. He was retired from the former Schickrams Trucking of Tamaqua.

West Virginia, Jennie Middleton of McAdoo, Pa.
Brother: John Sherry of Allentown.

Funeral Services Thursday Evening March 9, 2006 at 8 o'clock PM from the funeral home with a calling hour from 6-8PM.
