Chester C.J. Frey, 81, of Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, at home while surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Pauline M. (Rex) Frey for sixty years.
He was an active member of St. Peter's Church of Mantzville and served on the council for many years. He was the superintendent of St. Peter’s Sunday school, and he worked hard as a member of the kitchen crew. He drove truck for Lehigh Asphalt, Andreas Quarry, C.M. Breiner, G.R. Arner, Marvin Leiby, and Interstate Dress Company. He was a life member of the Mahoning Fire Company and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He was also a member of the Joint Choir of the four churches; St. Peter’s, St. John’s, Ben Salem, and Zions.
Chester cherished being a grandfather and championed all his grandchildren as they pursued their sports and extra-curricular activities in the high schools and colleges they attended. He adored his great grandchildren. They always brought up his spirits and put a smile on his face whenever they came around.
Survived in addition to his wife are daughters; Mrs. Robin Wehr wife of Bob of Andreas, and Mrs. Ranae O'Neill wife of Thomas of Mason City, IA.; sons, Randy R. Frey and his wife Lory, Rickey Frey and his wife Lori, and Robbie Frey and his wife Tina all of Lehighton; brother, Woodrow R. Frey and his wife Helen of Lehighton; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
Born on July 22, 1934 in West Penn Twp., he was the son of the late Russell W., and Verna L. (Snyder) Frey. Chester was also predeceased by an infant brother.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at St. Peter's Church, Mantzville, Pennsylvania, and on the morning of June 13, 2016 from 10:00 AM until time of services.
A Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM on Monday, June 13, 2016 at St. Peter's Church. 184 St. Peter's Church Road Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252, Rev. Cheryl Moore to officiate.
Interment in the church cemetery.
