Mr. Charles S Younker,age 64,of Ash Lane Kunkletown, Pa.,died Thursday, September 8, 2011, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Charles together with his wife, Dolores A. (Doleiden) Younker, were a husband and wife professional ice skating team, performing professionally for 20 years under the name Adagio On Ice.

The highlight of his career was when he and his wife were the first ice skating team in the history of America to have a command performance at the White House for then President Jimmy Carter on 12-23-1980.

Together at Penn Hills Skating,of Analomink, PA., they coached olympic hopeful skaters and taught those who simply wanted the enjoyment of skating. They ran a Free Ice Show every year at Penn Hills Skating Rink.

A well-known certified chef in the Poconos, having worked at Newbury Estates Country Club in Dallas, Carriage House Restaurant, Eagle Valley Corners, Stroudsburg and Pocono View Inn, Sciota, Pa., where his wife managed the dining rooms.

He was a member of Salem UCC of Weatherly and the V.F.W. Post 6615, White Haven.

Charles was a Vietnam Army Veteran and a 1966 Weatherly High School graduate.

Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Mary (Pakola) Younker.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dolores A (Doleiden) Younker;

One Son,
Charles C Younker of Kunkletown;

Two Sisters,
Elva Dargay and her husband Danny of Weatherly, and Jeanette "Janie" Muschlitz and her husband Victor of Bethlehem;

Three Brothers,
Adam Younker and his wife Sandra of Lehigh Acres, FL,
Fred Younker of Costa Rica, and James Younker and his wife Dolores of Phoenixville, Pa.;

Two grandchildren, Nathan and Mickenna;

Extended family, Joni O'Neal and Tim Frable, who have been there at his side during his illness.


Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries, F.D. Supervisor where the family will receive friends on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 5-7 PM and on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 10-11 AM.

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home.

Interment at Union Cemetery of Weatherly.
