Charles "Banty" Herring, 92 years of age of Oak Drive, Lake Hauto Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 14, 2016, surrounded by loved one's while in the care of his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Blanche L. (Marino) Herring.
A 1941 Coaldale High School graduate, Charles served honorably in the United States Marines during WWII. He maintained his reverence of his military time as a life member of the Marine Corps League. Many referred to Charles fondly as "The Marine".
Charles was a member of the First Congregational Church of Coaldale, Coaldale V.F.W. Post # 6982, and Coaldale American Legion Post #170. He was a member of the Tamaqua Elks, and pursued his passion of golf as a long time member of the former Mahoning Valley Country Club of Lehighton. Charles was an avid football fan having traveled to many games with friends, and enjoyed wintering at their home in Florida.
Returning home after serving his country, Charles worked as an Electrician at the #9 Mines of Coaldale, and then for Rockwell Corporation of Reading, Pennsylvania from which he retired.
Born Thursday, February 14, 1924 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Benjamin Herring and the late Marion (Richards) Herring.
He was predeceased by son, Charles R Herring; sister, Emma Lou Scheitrum.
Surviving Charles, is his dear niece, Mary Frances (Chamberlain) Migliorino and her husband Robert and there sons Joseph and Michael; many nieces and nephews also survive him.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock AM on Thursday March 17, 2016 from the First Congregational Church of Coaldale located at 123 East Ruddle Street Coaldale, Pennsylvania 18218, Rev. Dr., Wayne Bennack to officiate.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until time of services on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at First Congregational Church of Coaldale, 123 East Ruddle Street, Coaldale, Pennsylvania.
Interment with Military Honors will be held at Sky-View Memorial Park Lafayette Ave. Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.
