With great sadness and abundant love that was our Mom, the three Mancuso children of Carolyn Elaine Quigg Mancuso would like to inform family and friends that she passed away peacefully on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the age of 97. She was known as Mom, Mom-mom, Aunt Carol, Carolyn, and a beautiful, kind woman no matter which name you knew her by.
Born on Thanksgiving day, November 25,1926 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of the late Jeremiah, and Grace (Shaw) Quigg. At age two Carolyn moved to Toronto, Canada and at age 12 to Northern Ireland. After completing school at the Irish Society Girls School she was conscripted by the British government to work at the The Atheneum in London, a private club, during the war years 1944-1946 as a hostess and server to the Lords of Parliament, and literary and scientific men. Carolyn returned to the states in 1946. She worked at Bell Telephone in Philadelphia and sponsored her mother, sister and brothers back to the states. Carolyn was predeceased by; her husband, Henry L. Mancuso whom she married on September 6,1949; brothers, Walter "Buddy" Quigg, Norman Quigg, and Kenneth Quigg.
Surviving are; son, David Charles Mancuso of Easton, PA, daughters, Annette M. Winther wife of David of South Dennis, MA, Carole Lynne Star of Lake Harmony, PA; ; sister, Martha Anne Cavanaugh wife of Robert of Palm Springs, CA; grandchildren Scott David & Elizabeth Dolan, Courtney Lynne, Christopher Michael and Nicole Shorts, great grandchildren Grayson, Ka’Mari and Thomas. Many nieces and nephews also survive Carolyn.
Carolyn, formerly of Rosemont and Stroudsburg, PA was a member of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Bryn Mawr. She worked at the Radnor High School Library, but she was most proud of her accomplishments as Chair of Consignment at the Bryn Mawr Hospital Thrift Shop. Our Mom loved to read, was a talented sewer, enjoyed bowling with her League, ballroom dancing, playing Bridge, gardening and entering flower arranging competitions with the Garden Club of Bala Cynwyd, but most of all she loved taking care of her grandchildren and being there for family. She also loved and continued to travel all her life and we are grateful to have so many memories of family trips to Toronto, Scotland, Northern Ireland, London, California, Colorado, and along the east coast; our beach times in Florida, Locust Lakes, PA and Cape Cod, MA; and the annual Thanksgiving/Birthday Celebrations. These are the memories our family and friends will keep forever. Mom, you surely will be greatly missed, but more importantly - admired, cherished, and loved for years to come.
Our family is deeply grateful and thank all the caring staff at Heritage Hills Memory Care and most recently Family Pillars Hospice who were there for Mom and guided us these past couple of years and weeks.
Please join our family for her funeral service on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 10 A.M. from Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church at 625 Montgomery Ave. Bryn Mawr, PA.
Interment at Glenwood Memorial Gardens at 2321 West Chester Pike Broomall, PA where she will be placed to rest with her loving husband Henry.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life, share memories, and to just be together to remember our amazing mother and mom-mom at 12:30 P.M.
