Carol Ann Heater of East Main St. Weatherly, passed away at Timber Ridge Health Care, Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.
Born In Weatherly, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Fries) Erdman.
She was a 1951 graduate of Weatherly High and was instrumental in organizing class reunions at Tweedle Park. Prior to starting her family, she worked as a Tube Tester at the former Tung-Sol, Weatherly. Carol assisted her husband Maurice “Benny” Heater as secretary/treasurer for Heater Monument Co. and Benny Heater Co. Inc. foundry & machine shop representative.
She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Weatherly where she was a Sunday School teacher and ran the Bulletin Sponsorship Program for 35 years. For over 20 years, she was the secretary of the Scottish Rite Lehigh Consistory Ladies' Auxiliary. Carol worked with her husband in various fund raising events supporting Shrine Orthopedic and Burn Hospitals. She also helped raise funds for the Children’s Dyslexic Center of Allentown, a Scottish Rite Freemason charity her husband serves as vice chairman.
Carol is survived by her husband of 57 years Maurice “Benny” Heater. Daughter: Jan, wife of William J. Ray Jr. of Centreville, VA. Son: James D. Heater of Manhattan, NY. Grandchildren: Katie & Andrew Ray. She is also survived by sisters, Doris Hagenbach, McAllen, TX; Mrs. John ( Joyce) Saeger, Lancaster, PA and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was predeceased by an infant son, William M. Heater in 1963 and brothers Alan, Robert & Lawrence Erdman.
Services will be at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11 AM. Friends may call at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home 211 First St., Weatherly on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM and Monday at church from 10 to 11 AM.
