Mr. Calvin "Cal" Leroy Erbe, age 84, of Phillip Street Coaldale, Pa., died Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg Campus in Bethlehem, Pa.
Mr. Erbe, last worked as a mechanic for Lehigh Coal and Navigation of Coaldale, Pa.. Previously, he served as a purchasing manager for various industries in New Jersey, and worked at the former Schaeffer's Brewery of Allentown, Pa.
A WWII Navy veteran, he served on a mine sweeper during D-day. Cal, was a member of the American Legion and American Veterans Associations of Coaldale, Pa. He was and avid golfer and bowler, and a member of St. Jerome R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Pa..
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late John and Irene (Weaver) Erbe.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Philomena J. Erbe;
Two Daughters,
Mrs. Kathryn M. (Erbe) Zalesak of Harrisburg, Pa.
Mrs. Pamela E. (Erbe) Kulick wife of John of Tamaqua, Pa.
One Son,
Mr. Michael J. Erbe of Coaldale, Pa.
Eight grandchildren, John, Jacob, Joel, Jerry, Jeffrey, Jordan, Daniella, & Brittany;
Preceded in death by his brothers, George and Charles Erbe; sister, Mrs. Annabelle Reis
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 20, 2009 and from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM Saturday, February 21, 2009.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Jerome R.C.C. at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 21, 2009, Rev. James Bechtel.
Interment with military honors, presented by the Panther Valley Jr. R.O.T.C., will be at Sky View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, Pa.
