Beatrice D. James

Beatrice D.(DeFrain) James, 84, who lived in Levittown for 54 years, died at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation, Hazleton.

Widow of John R. "Jesse" James, who died on February 3, 2008.

Born in Packer Township, Weatherly, on November 26, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Eva (Craiglow) DeFrain.

Beatrice was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Hazleton,and formerly a member of Emilie United Methodist Church, Levittown, for 50 years.

Retiring from Kuhn and Jacobs Trenton, New Jersey in 1989 , she previously worked at Geisler’s Knitting Mill, Hazleton and the Weatherly Candy Factory.

She was a 50 year member of the Neshaminy Chapter No. 374 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Woodside, PA, serving as Worthy Matron in 1965-66.

Beatrice, enjoyed fishing with her husband, John; she was an avid reader, loved to sew and do crafts. She and John, travelled the continental United States on an extended summer vacation in 1978.

In addition to her parents,

Surviving are two sisters, Margaret M. Kistler, Hazleton, Gladys I. Hinkle, wife of the Reverend Richard L. Hinkle, Weatherly and a sister-in-law, M. Ruth Burke, Limerick, PA.,

Four nieces and one nephew;

Preceded in death y a sister, Ruth DeFrain.

A memorial service will be held on November 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. from Philip J. Jeffries
Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Reverend Richard L. Hinkle to officiate.

Friends shall be received from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Interment will take place at the family’s convenience in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Weatherly.

Donations are requested to Christ Lutheran Church, 210 West Green Street Hazleton, Pa. 18201.
