Barbara A. Rex

Mrs. Barbara A. (Smith) Rex, age 94, formerly of New Ringgold, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Manor Care Salisbury Twp. in Allentown, Pa.

Barbara, graduated from Lehighton High School, and was a member of Ben Salem U.C.C. of Lehighton, having participated in the church's Womens Guild.

She and her late husband owned and ran the West Penn Diner from 1950-1965, upon the sale of the diner she worked as a baker, for the former Leiby's Restaurant of Tamaqua, and was a member of the West Penn Lionettes.

Born in East Penn Twp., she was the daughter of the late Granville and Soura (Wertman) Smith.

She is survived by her

Two Sons,
Sherwood S. Rex of Allentown,
Arthur L. Rex of Breiningsville;

Seven grandchildren
Nine great-grandchildren;

Preceded in death by her husband on March 23, 2001 Leon R. Rex; brother, Leland, Allen, and twin brother Clayton Smith; sisters, Mrs. Arlene Schleicher, and Mrs. Hilda Steigerwalt.

Arrangements are being handled by Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, Inc., 2066 West Penn Pike, Rte. #309, New Ringgold, Pa..

Friends may call Tuesday morning from the funeral home from 9:30 to time of service.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday March 16, 2010 at 11 o'clock A.M. from the Robert S. Nester F.H., Inc. 2066 West Penn Pike, Rte.#309, New Ringgold, Pa. 17960, Rev. Don R. Quayle officiating.

Interment will be at Ben Salem Church Cemetery
