Arnold R. "Arnie" Selert, longtime Fire Police Captain of Weatherly, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, March 8,2021, at his home on Sixth Street at 84 years of age.
Born Monday, July 6,1936 in Jersey City, New Jersey the son of the late Edward John, and Edna(Francis) Selert. Arnold was also predeceased by; sister Elaine Selert; brothers, Edward, William, and Richard Selert.
Surviving are; his beloved wife of 64 years, Mildred (Gerhard) Selert; daughter, Barbara J.Cunnius wife of Lloyd of Weatherly; sons, Robert B. Selert and his wife Michelle of Weatherly, Edward J. Selertand his wife Rebecca of Chincoteague, VA,; sister, Lorraine Bennett and her husband Leon of Kennewick, WA.; 7 grand children; 13 great grandchildren.
A member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Weatherly, Arnie served his country honorably asa member of the United States Army. He retired from the Weatherly Borough Street Dept., previously he worked for the Weatherly Foundry, and Star Security.
Arnie has served Weatherly Borough civically for over 63 years, as a member of Citizens Fire Company for 51 years, as past president, Captain of the Weatherly Fire Police,and was a first responder with the former Weatherly Ambulance for over 30 years. Arnie also served as a Steward at the fire company.
Arnie enjoyed deep sea fishing with his family, was active in Scouting having served as Scout Leader for Pack 607 in Weatherly. Arnie enjoyed going to baseball games, horseback riding as a member of the Buck Mountain Trail Riders, and was active in the Weatherly CB Radio Club.
Arnie served on the Carbon County Democratic Executive Committee, and was chairperson for Weatherly Borough.

Funeral Services will be held from the funeral home on Saturday March 13, 2021 at 11 o'clock A.M. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M.until time of services. Military Honors will be bestowed.
Interment St. Matthew's Cemetery, Weatherly.
