Mr. Anthony "Tony" C.M. Yuskauskas, age 85, of Nesquehoning, Pa., formerly of Tamaqua, Pa., died Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Maple Shade Living Center in Nesquehoning, Pa.
Tony was a 1940 Tamaqua High School graduate. After high school he entered the United States Marine Corp in March of 1943. Rising to the rank of Corporal, he earned his expert marksman qualification. A radio operator who worked with the renowned "Wind Talkers", Tony participated in the action against the enemy by landing on Easter Sunday 1945 in Okinawa, Ryukyu Is. He also participated in the repatriation of China.
Tony maintained membership in the Tamaqua American Legion Post #170, East End Fire Company, SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C.. and Life membership in the 1st Marine Division Association.
He was employed full time at Bethlehem Steel and also operated the White Swan which was his family’s business from 1903-1975.
He was the son of the late Charles and Leah (Andrukitis) Yuskauskas.
Preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Verne M. (Moravek) Yuskauskas on 15 October 2003;

Two Daughters, Dr. Anita Yuskauskas, wife of Chris Fink, Lincoln University, Pa., and Mrs. Diane (Yuskauskas) Macchiano, wife of Dr. Anthony, Mt. Vernon, N.Y.
One Son, Mr. Charles A. Yuskauskas and his wife Deborah, Nesquehoning, Pa.
Two Sisters, Mrs. Alice (Yuskauskas) Correll, wife of George "Jake", Harrisburg, Pa. and Mrs. Emily (Yuskauskas) Gazdick, wife of John, Nesquehoning, Pa.
Grandchildren: Jarrod Yuskauskas; Andrius Fink; Rebecca, Ben, and Anthony Macchiano.
Former wife and her husband Mrs. Florence and John Bubel, Tamaqua, Pa.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2008, and from 8:45 Am to 9:30 Am on Wednesday October 15, 2008 at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 15, 2008 , Rev. William Linkchorst officiating.
Entombment will be at Sky-View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, Pa, with Military honors Thursday October 16, 2008 at 10 o'clock AM.
