Anthony Romano, 88, of Jackson Township, died Sunday morning, May 27, at home. He was the husband of Aileen "BeBe" (Mahon) Romano with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born on August 15, 1923 in Weatherly, he was the son of the late Frank and Filomena (Greek) Romano and lived in Monroe County for the past 47 years.
He was a teacher and coach for 35 years having worked for Weatherly High School, Jim Thorpe Area High School and Stroudsburg School District.
Anthony was a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church in Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Tony Romano, Jr. of East Stroudsburg, Mick Romano and his wife Melissa of Saylorsburg, Jean Maybin of Wilkes-Barre and Ann Law and her husband Brian of Stroudsburg; six grandchildren Brian Law Jr., Keith Law, Elizabeth Law, Ross Maybin, Audrey Maybin and Chris Romano; three sisters, Mary Romano, Mina Kuchar and Amelia Kuchar all of Weatherly and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Robin Graver Romano; two brothers, Louis Romano and John Romano and a sister, Lilly Romano.
There will be a visition from 7:00 to 8:30PM Tuesday, May 29, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg. A second visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00PM Wednesday, May 30, at the Philip Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon (12:00PM), Thursday, May 31, at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 318 Plane Street, Weatherly. Private cremation will take place after the Mass.
