Mr. Anthony J. Fredicine, age 91, of Spruce St., Tamaqua died Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at HCR ManorCare, Laureldale.

He was an engineer for Conrail & Reading Railroad for 49 years, retiring in 1982, last engineering The Anthracite Express.

Anthony was a member of St. Jerome R.C. Church of Tamaqua, the Knights of Columbus- Henry Baker Chapter, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, South Ward Fire Company and Sons of Italy.

Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Silvino and Christina (Falasca) Fredicine.

He is survived by his

son, Anthony J. Fredicine Jr. and his wife Lois of Oley, Pa.

three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who called him grand-pop.

Preceded in death by his wife in 2003, Mary Frances (Bonk) Fredicine; brother, Joseph; and sisters, Helen Fredicine, Mary DiJulius, Rosie Coppola and Anna A'mato.

Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, Pa. where the family will receive friends on Monday, December 7, 2009 from 9:30-10:30 A.M.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Jerome R.C. Church 264 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, Pa. Reverend James C. Bechtel officiating.

Interment at St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pa.
