Anna S. (Swartz) Mitzen, beloved mother, and grandmother, age 80, of Lansford, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale.
Widow of George Mitzen, who died in 1988.
A devoted mother, and grandmother, Anna enjoyed to cook, bake, and crochet. She adored her pets, and opened her home to all animals. Shopping trips with her family made her day.
Born in Mannheim, Germany, she was the daughter of the late William and Sophia Swartz.
She is survived by her
Two Daughters,
Georgine (Mitzen) Wetzel,
Nicole A. (Mitzen) Schlosser both of Lansford;
Three Sons,
Her caregiver with whom she resided, George J. Mitzen of Lansford,
Joseph M. Mitzen of Lansford,
David W. Mitzen of Boston, Mass.
Five grandchildren, Vanessa wife of John Boyle, Janel Wetzel, Tyler and Christopher Mitzen, and Derek Schlosser;
One great-grandchild, Brody Boyle
Arrangements are being handled by Holmes-Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 30, 2012.
Funeral service will be at Holmes - Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc. at 10 o'clock AM Friday, August 31, 2012.
Interment at Sky View Memorial Park in Tamaqua.
