Anna Mae Callan, 95 years of age, of Valley Street Brockton, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Orwigsburg Center. Anna Mae had been a guest of Providence Place in Pottsville for the past 3 &1/2 years.
Born Wednesday, December 29, 1926 in Kaska, the daughter of the late Leo, and Barbara (Schwartz) Blickley. Anna Mae was also predeceased by; first husband, Joseph F. Roman on April 9, 1964; second husband, and best ever dance partner, George E. Callan on August 27, 1996; sisters, Gladys Blickley, Margaret "Peggy" Owens, Theresa Blickley; brother Al "Bud" Blickley; grandson, Alex Callan.
Surviving are sons, Francis J. Roman and his wife Lynn of Bala Cynwyd, Jeffrey L. Callan of Newburg; daughter, Sharon L. Steager wife of Donald of Wescosville; brothers, Paul Blickley and his wife Debbie of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, Gerald Blickley of Shenandoah; grandchildren Matthew, Marisa & Shawn; 3 great grandchildren Hunter, Chase and Shaylin.
Anna Mae attended Blythe Township Schools, and graduated from the Tamaqua Area High School. Upon graduation at the tender age of 18, Anna Mae took the Civil Service examination, scoring high enough to be hired by the Department of Defense O.S.S., in Washington D.C. She moved back to PA when she married Joe. Anna Mae retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources in Pottsville. She was very well-known for her activities for the many responsibilities she took on as President and other positions in the Ladies’ Auxiliary at St. Bartholomew Church as well as her choir participation and baking! Afterwards, she continued choir participation as a member of Holy Cross R.C.C. of New Philadelphia. She always helped to plan the merged class reunions of Blythe & Tamaqua! Anna Mae was a longtime volunteer for the Tamaqua Meals on Wheels delivering well into her 90's. A bowler, and dancer, she loved traveling, and spending evenings spent with friends, attending local school sports games, Barber-Shopper and Tamaqua Elk Lodge events, and was always available to chauffer those in need and support

A Funeral service will be at 11 o'clock A.M. on Tuesday January 3, 2023 from the funeral home, Msgr. William Glosser to officiate. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of the services.
Interment will be in St. Bartholomew R.C. Cemetery, Brockton, Pennsylvania.
