Anna T. Fertally, RN. 98 years of age, a life long resident of Weatherly, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Weatherwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Ctr. in Weatherly, Pennsylvania.
Born Monday, April 9, 1917 in Weatherly, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late John and Anna (Fadden) Fertally.
Anna was a Weatherly High School graduate, and matriculated to St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Philadelphia class of 1939. Returning home, Anna served as a charge nurse, and unit nurse at the former St. Joseph's Hospital of Hazleton, and at Hazleton General Hospital. For many years, Anna was a much coveted Private Duty Nurse, serving families at their home or place of convalescence.
A member of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.C. of Weatherly, Anna enjoyed spending time at her cottage on Lake Harmony and maintaining her home in Weatherly.
Survived by her caregiver, Bernard Simkovich of Hazleton, many nieces, nephews, great, and great-great nieces and nephews. Anna was the last member of her immediate family.
Anna was preceded in death by her companion of many years, Edward Drum; sister, Mrs. Mary Schmeer, Miss Helen Fertally, Mrs. Agnes Simkovich; brothers, John, and William Fertally.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Philip J. Jefffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services of 211 First Street Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255. (570) 427-4231.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 o'clock A.M. on Friday February 26, 2016 from Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.C. located at 318 Plane Street Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255, Rev. Floyd Caesar to officiate.
Friends may call in church from 9:00 A.M. until time of services.
Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Weatherly.
