Ann Montague

March 12, 1914 — July 24, 2012

Ann Giovino Montague, 98 was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great aunt and friend. She was a woman who could light up a room with her smile and everyone who knew her loved her.



Born in Wilkes-Barre in 1914, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Michelina Giovino. She attended G.A.R. High School and was a valued employee of Lazarus Department Store for several years.



Ann was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Church on Park Avenue in Wilkes-Barre where she was a former president of the Sacred Heart & Rosary Society as well as a popular toastmaster at their events. An active member of the St. Theresa’s Little League Mothers Club, she also served as a Judge of Elections for Luzerne County for several years.

Ann is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, William P. Montague, Sr.; her brother, William and her sisters Antoinette (Annette) Alles, Philomena (Fanny) Colonna, Carmella (Millie) Pietrafesa and Connie Mascolino.

Surviving is her daughter Patricia Ann (Pam) and her husband, Lamont McClure, Drums, PA; her son, William Patrick, Jr. and his wife Susan (Borsuk), Clarence, New York; and her daughter, Marianne and her husband, Scott Benjamin, Fairport, New York.



Also surviving are grandchildren; Kelly McClure; Lamont McClure Jr. and his wife, Sandra (Foster); Tara McClure Convery and her husband, Robert; Kathryn McClure Klick and her husband, Joseph; William Montague and his wife, Beth(Kuhn); Susan Montague Laino and her husband, Joseph; Annie Benjamin and Kyle Benjamin. She also had 8 great-grandchildren; Valerie and Jenna Montague; Jack and Aidan Convery; Jack and Robert Laino; Luke McClure and Sofia Klick. She is also survived by her dear sister, Mary English and her extended family members.



Ann attended morning Mass every day when she was able and was deeply devoted to St. Anthony and the rosary. She often reminded her family that faith was the most important thing in life. Special thanks to family and friends for providing the support she needed to enable her to continue to live in her cherished home for as long as possible. Our deep gratitude to the staff of Heritage Hill Senior Living in Weatherly and the Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the staff of Butler Valley Manor in Drums for their loving care during the past several years.



Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Weatherly, PA on Friday, July 27 at 11 a.m. with visitation prior beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover, PA. Donations in Ann’s memory can be sent to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 318 Plane St., Weatherly, PA 18255.
