Anita L. Learn-Mccartney

Anita L. Learn-McCartney , mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, 69 years of age of Jim Thorpe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 11, 2017 in Weatherly surrounded by her family.

Widow of William "Bill" R. McCartney who passed away on December 31, 2016, she is survived by her beloved daughters, Jennifer (Learn) wife of Tom Andes of Weatherly, Pamela (Learn) wife of James Schleicher of Lansford, Vanessa (Learn) wife of Brian List of Mt. Laurel, NJ; grandchildren, Rebecca, Eli, Joshua, Jacob, Emily, and Madelyn; great grandchildren, Austin, Hayden, Adrian, and Myla; sisters, Mrs. Arlene Swantko wife of Russell of Drums, Mrs. Alice Houk wife of William of Gaithersburg, MD; brother, David Novitsky and his wife Robin of Weatherly; stepchildren, Mrs. Alyssa White and her husband Charles of Chester Springs, Pa., Ross McCartney and his wife Laura of Nazareth; step grandchildren, Ethan, Madeline, Jacqueline, Rachel, and Jessica; many nieces, and nephews also survive her.

A 1966 graduate of Weatherly High School, Anita earned her Associates in Liberal Art's from Penn State University, Hazleton Campus in 1989.

Anita, served as office manager for a number of local businesses. She currently worked at The Quilted Crow in Palmerton.

Gifted in so many ways, Anita was a member of the Mensa Society since 1980, a talented artist, quilter, sewer, and voracious reader. Her paintings and intricate quilts will be treasured by family and loved ones for generations to come. She enjoyed the companionship of her cat," Fred".

Born on June 8, 1948 in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Daniel T. , and Anna (Brazzo) Novitsky.

A Private Remembrance Services will be held at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services of 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255. (570) 427-4231

Interment, Union Cemetery, Weatherly, Pennsylvania.
