Mr. Andrew Malay, age 88, of Tamaqua, Pa., died Friday, May 20, 2011, at Hometown Nursing Home in Tamaqua.
Andrew had been employed by FL Smidth, Bethlehem, Pa. as a crane operator from 1956-1989.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church of Lansford.
Andrew was a member of the West Penn and Keystone Rod & Gun Clubs. He was a hunter and trapper.
Andrew was a pigeon fancier, having raced Homing Pigeons for the Tamaqua Flying Club for 65 years.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Michael Malay and the late Anastasia (Batch) Malay.
He is survived by his
two sons,
Andrew M Malay and his wife Donna of Tamaqua and
Michael Malay and his wife Sandy of Brooksville, FL
seven grandchildren
four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Trevorah in 2006; brothers, Michael, John and Charles; sisters, Helen Tirpak, Anna Malick, Rose Miller, Sue Walters and Mary Malay.
Private Family Service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
