Mr. Andrew Kmetz, age 93, of Allentown, Pa., died Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Lehigh Center in Macungie, Pa.
Andrew retired as a Heavy Equipment operator from the Martins Creek plant of PP&L after 30 years of service in 1980, he had also read meter's in South Bethlehem.
A 1934 Nesquehoning High School graduate, as a Corporal, he served in the United States Army Infantry 26th regiment, known as the Big Red during WWII. Andrew, was a P.O.W., awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Puple Heart, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.
Andrew was a member of St. John Slovak Lutheran Church of Lansford, Pa..
Andrew was a lifetime member of Sandts Eddy Fire Comapny of Martins Creek, and Lower Mt. Bethel Ambulance Assoc.. He was a founding Charter member of the Hauto Fire Company, Nesquehoning, serving as the first President.
Born in Hauto Village, Nesquehoning, he was the son of the late George and Anna (Kuntz) Kmetz.

As the last immediate member of his family, he was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Pillar Kmetz; brothers, Joseph and John Kmetz; sisters Mrs. Helen Kusko, Mrs. Margaret Kmetz, and Mrs. Anna Praskac.
