Amelia R. Kuchar, 96, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, and aunt, of Weatherly, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 1, 2017.
Born May 4, 1921, in New Columbus, Nesquehoning, Amelia was the daughter of the late Frank and Filomena (Grieco) Romano. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Weatherly.
A Registered Nurse and World War II veteran, Amelia graduated from Hazleton State Hospital’s School of Nursing and served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, carrying out duties at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland and in Philadelphia. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Saint Luke Manor in Hazleton.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, John, in 2006, to whom she was married for 55 years, brothers Louis, John and Anthony, and sisters Donata “Lillie” Romano, Mary Romano, and Philomena Kuchar.
Surviving are daughters Sudie Dinofrio and her husband, Charles, Freeland, and Amy Miller and her husband, John, Weatherly, with whom she resided. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Amy and Chuck Dinofrio, Kelly, Kyle and Nick Miller, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services 211 First Street Weatherly, Pennsylvania. 18255.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 o'clock A.M. on December 5, 2017 from Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.C. 318 Plane Street Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255
Internment St. Nicholas R.C.C. Cemetery following the Mass. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Weatherly.
