Alverta E. "Corky" Ross
February 1, 1926 — March 31, 2015
Alverta E. "Corky" Ross, 89 years of age, of Lauderburn Ave., Weatherly, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton Campus.
She was the widow of Anthony W. Ross who died in 2001.
A member of Zions Evangelical Lutheran Church of Weatherly, Alverta belonged to the Busy Bee's. She enjoyed trips to the Casino, playing Bingo, and was an avid reader.
Alverta worked at Tung-Sol and various other textile companies.
Born Monday, February 1, 1926, in Oakdale, Luzerne County the daughter of the late Charles and Eva (Updegrove) Neidlinger.
Surviving are son,
Robert M. Ross and his wife, Beverly, of Weatherly;
Daughter,
Patricia A. Zubritsky, wife of Peter, of Weatherly with whom she resided;
Brother,
Donald Cannon and his wife, Elsa, of Pressath, Germany;
Four grandchildren, Jessica and Jarrod Ross, Brian and Michael Zubritsky;
Six great grandchildren, Ashley, Valerie, Mason, Remi, Evan and Alaina;
Many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Preceded in death by, sisters; Mrs. Ethne Wagner, Mrs. Naomi Hasker, Mrs. Ruth Hildebrand, Mrs. Gertrude Sherman, Mrs. Velma Provizzi and Mrs. Matilda O'Donnell; brothers; Theodore and Charles Neidlinger and Daniel Cannon; stepmother; Hazel Neidlinger.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255.
A Funeral Service will be at 11 o'clock AM on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services located at 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pennsylvania 18255. Rev. Dawn Richie to officiate.
A Gathering of Friends shall take place at the funeral home from 9:30 AM until time of services.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Weatherly, Pennsylvania.
