Alfred J. Borascius, age 95, of Tamaqua, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Mahoning Valley Nursing Home in Lehighton.
Survived by his wife, Beatrice P. (Nunemacher) Borascius.
Al was A 1935 Tamaqua High School graduate, having been an accomplished high school football player.
A WWII Navy veteran having fought in the South Pacific in the Battle of Iwo Jima.
Al was a member of SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. of Tamaqua, he was a member of the Holy Name Society of the church.
Al worked at Bethlehem Steel, and the former Speed Space of Hometown. He and his wife Beatrice owned and operated Borascius's Bar in Tamaqua for many years.
He was a member of the Tamaqua Elks, V.F.W., East End Fire Co., and Men of Marian. Al was also an avid fisherman and bowler.
Born in Tamaqua, he was the son of the late Frank and Sophie Borascius.
He is also survived by his

Linda (Borascius) Malinowski and her husband Henry of Haymarket, Virginia, and Mary (Borascius) Pierce wife of Dr. David of Saylorsburg;
One Son,
Al Borascius and his wife Barb of Coopersburg, Pa.
Six grandchildren,
Richard, Kendra, Megan, Garrick, Michael and Lindsey.
Preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Frances Hall, Mrs. Helen Shaefer, and Mrs. Alice Shaefer; brother, Stanley Borascius.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday June 15, 2012 at 11 o'clock A.M. from SS. Peter & Paul R.C.C. 301 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pa. 18252, Rev. William Linkchorst, Celebrant.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
Interment will be at SS Peter & Paul in Tamaqua, Pa.
