Mr. Alfred Benech, age 85, of Tamaqua, Pa., died Monday, May 23, 2011, unexpectedly at his home on Willing Street in Tamaqua.
A 1943 Tamaqua High School graduate, Alfred is a WWII Army veteran, having fought in the Europian Campaign, earning a Service Medal with four Bronze Stars.
Alfred, was a member of the Tamaqua American Legion, and V.F.W.
An Avid outdoorsman, he was a founding member of the West Penn Archery Club, and belonged to the West Penn Rod & Gun Club.
A member of St. Jerome R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Al managed the former Tamaqua Garment Company, having worked 35 years.
Born in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Wendel and Lillian Benech.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Santina (Jacobe) Benech;
Three Daughters,
Carol A. (Benech) Sparks wife of Bob of Slatington,
Theresa L. (Benech) Keefer wife of Curtis, Jr. of Lehighton,
Allyn C. Benech of Allentown;
Four grandchildren, Curtis, III, Nicole, Nickolas, and Zackary;
Three great-grandchildren, Curtis IV, Sierra, Jimmy.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, May 26, 2011 and from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM Friday, May 27, 2011.
Prayer Service Friday morning from the funeral home at 10:15 A.M.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Jerome R.C.C. at 11 o'clock A.M., Friday, May 27, 2011, Rev. James Bechtel officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will be at St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery in Tamaqua.
