Mr. Alex "Bindy" Schipin, Jr., age 86, of Weatherly, Pa., died Sat., September 5, 2009, at Lehigh Valley Hopital Salisbury Twp. Pa.
Alex, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C.C. of Weatherly, Pa., American Legion Post #360 Weatherly, and the Freeland V.F.W..
He was and Avid outdoorsman, belonging to the Silver Ridge Hunting Club of Weatherly, and the Paradise Fishing Club.
Alex was a high school graduate, and a graduate of the McCanns School of Business. He retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot, where he was a Production Controller.
A Marine Corp Veteran of WWII, he was awarded a Purple Heart, and participated in the assault and capture of Iwo Jima.
Born in Brandonville, he was the son of the late Alexander and the late Constance (Matusick) Schipin.
He is survived by his

Mary (Schipin) Baker wife of John of Fogelsville, Pa.;
One Son,
Alex "Bindy" Schipin of Weatherly, Pa.;
One Sister,
Theresa (Schipin) Ney of Brandonville, Pa.;
Three grandchildren, Hannah, Grace, and Michael Baker;
Brother-in-law, Albert Salloway of Mahanoy City, Pa.
Preceded in death by his wife in 1980 Irene (Salloway) Schipin; brother, Edward; sisters, Florence Obzut, Helen Lorenz, Marie Shoup; daughter-in-law, Barbara (Paisley) Schipin.
Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First Street, Weatherly, Pa., Philip J. Jeffries Sup/F.D., where the family will receive friends Tuesday evening Sept. 8, 2009, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Wed. morning Sept. 9, 2009 from 8:45 Am to 9:30 AM.
A mass of Chrisitian Burial will be at Our Lady of Loudes R.C.C. at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 9, 2009, Rev. Floyd Caesar officiating.
Interment with military honors, will be at St. Nicholas R.C.C. Cemetery, Weatherly, Pa.
