Mr. Albert A. Facini, age 83, of Pottsville, PA, died Friday, November 7, 2008, at HCR Manor Care of Pottsville.
“Red” formerly resided in Mary-D, and Tamaqua, until his recent stay in Manor Care.
He retired as a Shovel Operator from Lehigh Coal & Navigation in 1988 after working in mining for over 50 years. Red was well respected for his expertise and helped train many of his co-workers.
A WWII Army veteran, member of the Middleport American Legion Post 144, United Mine Workers, and last surviving male charter member and a past president of the Mary-D Fire Company, which he helped build.
Albert was a member of St. Jerome R.C.C. of Tamaqua, PA and long time past member of St Bartholomew’s of Brockton, PA.
Born in Mary-D, PA., he was the son of the late Charles Facini and Anna Facini.
He is also survived by his two daughters, Mrs. Theresa A. (Facini) Scheuren wife of Russel of Lavelle, PA., Marie A. (Facini) Pieracini wife of James of Tamaqua, PA.
Two sons, Mr. Albert A. Facini Jr. and his wife Rosanne of FL.., Mr. Joseph C. Facini and his wife Deborah of Mechanicsburg, PA.
Twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife in 1987, Dorothy Catherine (Hartz) Facini; brothers, Adolph "Duffy" and Julius Facini.
Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa.
Friends may call Monday evening November 10, 2008 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday morning from 9:45 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., at the funeral home.
Prayer service Tuesday morning at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home.

Interment will be at St. Bartholomew’s R.C.C. Cemetery, graveside military honors
