After a stint at Commonwealth Container in Macungie, Albie began a 35-year tenure working for the Tamaqua Borough in many capacities. Albie always had side jobs, including roofing, tending to yards, and whatever chores needed to be done for families in our community. He also served as sexton of the United Methodist Church of Tamaqua for more than 50 years.
Albie was an outstanding softball pitcher, taking Andy's Paneling to a perfect 32-0 record in the Bavarian League, and played for Smulligans and Soley's Softball teams in the Tamaqua League. A keen pool shooter, he was a longtime member of the Tamaqua Pool League and also enjoyed canning peppers, making his tomato sauce, and delivering both to friends around town.
Albie was courageous. He valiantly fought off numerous bouts of cancer, while still working his side hustle. If you saw him early in the morning his reply was always, "It's a Great Day," before heading home to breakfast by Bobbie.
