Agnes V. Wood

Agnes V. Wood, beloved mother, gram, sister, aunt of Brew Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at home while in the care of her family at 91 years of age.

Born in Tamaqua the daughter of the late Edward, and Anna (Sell) Neifert. Agnes was also predeceased by; her husband of 56 years, George J. Wood on February 7, 2010; sister, Alice Griffiths; brother, John "Tank" Neifert.

Surviving are daughter, Susan A. DeAngelo and her husband Bruno of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Brianna Kunkel, Brenna Kunkel, Brandi DeAngelo, Bryce DeAngelo; sister, Ann Kline of Tamaqua; niece, Betsy Melnick and her husband George; great nephews, Tyler, Adam, and Memphis.

A graduate of Tamaqua High School class of 1947, Agnes had worked as a telephone operator for the former Bell Telephone from 1947-1961, and as a preschool teacher for the former Tamaqua Y.M.C.A from 1976-2008. She was a member Trinity U.C.C. of Tamaqua where she was an active member of the Prayer & Shawl Knitters. A former member of the Primitive Methodist Church, Agnes had taught Sunday School in the Primary Dept. for 40 years, belonged to the church Missionary Society, The Ladies Aid Society, having served as Secretary and President for many years. Agnes also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary Post #173 of Tamaqua, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter of Lehighton, Women of the Moose # 1379 Slatington Lodge life member for 50 plus years.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 12, 2021 at 11 o'clock A.M. Rev. Daryl Kennsinger to officiate. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.

Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.
